For the past 6 years, Extreme Tech Challenge (XTC) has partnered with the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization World Food Forum to present their Startup Innovation Awards, which seeks to showcase how deeptech entrepreneurs can have a significant impact on global agriculture and nutrition advancement.

This year, XTC evaluated leading applicants across UN FAO WFF’s four themes of Digital Innovation in Food Processing, Fighting Malnutrition, Empowering Women and Enhancing Climate and Water Security. From the latter category, XTC selected G-Strata of Chile as the winner of our Excellence in Applied AI Award.
G-Strata is using recursive learning and pattern recognition AI to improve the efficiency and accuracy of hydrogeological sensing for precise location and long-term management of aquifers for a world where water is increasingly scarce and precious.
They are a great example of the USE IT theme of XTC’s AI:360 Summit: putting AI to work to do what was previously impossible so as to build a better world.
John Martin, XTC Head of Competition and Ecosystem presented the award to G-Strata at World Food Forum in Rome on October 14 and G-Strata will join the showcase at our AI:360 Summit in November.
