The Extreme Tech Challenge (XTC), the world’s largest startup competition, is partnering with Innovation Norway, the Norwegian Government’s most important instrument for innovation and development of Norwegian enterprises and industry to bring XTC to Norway for the first time!
XTC aims to accelerate startups changing the world for the better through innovative technologies by providing the opportunity for global visibility and access to investment capital, corporate strategic partnerships and world-class mentorship.
In 2021 alone, the XTC competition attracted over 3,700 startup applications from nearly 100 countries. 80 startup finalists were selected and 43% of those were female founded. The finalist cohort collectively raised over US $233 million in venture investment since being selected. XTC now boasts 21 regional competitions and 71 global partners composed of corporations, venture capital firms, universities, policymakers, and tech conferences and hundreds of informal partners.
“XTC is one of those events where you can see how the future is changing right now. Norway will be part of driving that change with so many innovative companies, supported by Innovation Norway, BI and the entire Norwegian startup and innovation ecosystem”, said Alexander Bergo, Director Innovation Norway San Francisco and Bay Area.
“XTC and Innovation Norway share the common goal of supporting companies in developing their competitive advantage and to enhance innovation. We are pleased to connect our ecosystems and empower tech for good startups to change the world”, said Young Sohn, Co-Founder of Extreme Tech Challenge, Founding Managing Partner of Walden Catalyst Ventures, and former Corporate President and Chief Strategy Officer at Samsung Electronics.
This new Norway regional competition finale will be held on March 21, 2022 in Oslo. Tech Startups founded or co-founded by Norwegian entrepreneurs are invited to apply to this new regional competition by March 4, 2022.
The top three winners from this regional competition – XTC 2022 Norway – will automatically become global finalists of the Extreme Tech Challenge 2022 competition, where they will be invited to join a bootcamp training program with top corporate executives and venture capital investors. The top three startups will then compete against other startups in their respective technology categories for an opportunity to showcase their startups at the Extreme Tech Challenge 2022 Global Finals to be held in partnership with TechCrunch on June 14, 2022 in San Francisco.
