This challenge focuses on pioneering technologies that can serve as the bedrock of reducing global emissions. They have the potential to shape a sustainable future in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
This challenge isnโt just about disrupting industries but rewriting the future. Eight finalists will take the stage to pitch their transformative innovations โฆ and one will take home the winner title.
๐ 7Analytics: Real time water monitoring. FloodCube Realtime is based on highly detailed satellite data combined with machine learning models for land use, roads, sub-basins, drainage capacity, and more. Based in Norway.
๐ Barrow Green is developing an elastocaloric cooling technology invented at the Army Research Laboratory (ARL), which does not utilize hydrofluorocarbons as a refrigerant, and which has the potential to be highly energy efficient. Based in the U.S.
๐ BioEsol is a manufacturer of an AI-driven energy storage system intended to be efficient and sustainable and save on energy costs through a monthly subscription. Based in Mexico.
๐ Dynamic Air Cooling (DAC) is a new, environmentally friendly air conditioning and refrigeration technology that uses no synthetic HFC coolants* and features no thermal emissions. It’s ideal for commercial, industrial and residential applications. Based in Poland.
๐ EarthEn develops novel flexible thermo-mechanical energy storage solutions that use CO2 in a closed loop to store 4-100+ hours of energy at a low cost, highly scalable and safe manner with over a 30-year LTV. Based in the U.S.
๐ EH Group: High performance hydrogen fuel cell technology for a decarbonized future. Based in Switzerland.
๐ SeaO2โs solution is Direct Ocean Capture, which relies solely on renewable electricity and seawater as inputs to extract CO2 from the atmosphere through the ocean. The process uses electrochemistry and vacuum to alter the carbonate equilibrium of water to enable CO2 extraction in gas form, resulting in two outputs: decarbonized water and a pure stream of CO2. Based in the Netherlands.
๐ Water Warriors Poseidon high-capacity water treatment pellets, a patented innovation from Water Warriors, adsorbs phosphorus and ammonia at an impressive rate. The process is brilliantly simple — water flows through the pellets and leaves the phosphorus behind. Once the pellets reach nutrient capacity they can be used as fertilizer, returning the phosphorus to the land, creating responsible re-use of a diminishing resource. Based in the U.S.
