Congratulations to the XTC 2022 Global Finals Winner: Amai Proteins!
Sugar overconsumption underlies the Metabolic Syndrome (obesity, diabetes, cancers and more), a global health challenge affecting the lower socioeconomic classes the most. It is a burden on arable land, water usage, and contamination of air, land and sea. Amai (‘sweet’ in Japanese) produces the first healthy, tasty, and market-fit sweetener via Amai’s Pro-Protein Platform: Pro-Design AI-CPD (Computational Protein Design), Pro-Planet precision fermentation and Pro-Taste food technology. Next, Amai will target meat, milk and plant applications.

The 2022 XTC Global Finals
This year’s XTC Global Finals on June 14 were held at Tech Crunch Sessions: Climate in Berkley CA. Featured speakers included Bill Gates and Pat Brown from Impossible Foods. The XTC panel was widely appreciated and featured Visionary Partners represented by Philipp Gruener, Partner & Head of Direct Tech of Decisive Capital Management and Jamey Butcher, CEO & President of Chemonics International.

Many XTC 2022 category winners and runners up attended the event in person and enjoyed networking with potential investors, XTC Co-Founders and partners, famous speakers and their startup peers. XTC Pre-Finals Reception
This year, we held a pre-finals reception in San Francisco for XTC sponsors, startups, partners, potential investors, international VCs and more the night before the Global Finals. Startups met both their fellow winners and runners up as well as potential investors and VCs. Mini pitches and exchanges of advice and ideas could be heard in every corner of the room. XTC Co-Founders Young Sohn and Bill Tai, joined by XTC General Managing Director Victoria Slivkoff made opening remarks.
Innovation Norway Private Pre-Finals Reception
Anticipating the Global Finals, XTC Partner Innovation Norway together with the Norwegian Consulate General of San Francisco held a private reception for Norwegian startup winners and runners up as well attended by XTC Co-Founder Young Sohn, XTC team members, the Consul General Gry Rabe Henriksen, international VCs and investors.
Director of Innovation Norway San Francisco Alex Bergo, Consul General Gry Rabe Henriksen and XTC Co-Founder Young Sohn all gave speeches and were then joined by Co-Founders of Savvie (XTC People’s Choice Winner) and Empower.Eco (Smart Cities Winner).
