XTC Partners with TechBBQ
Extreme Tech Challenge (XTC), the world’s largest startup competition for entrepreneurs addressing global challenges, is proud to launch the inaugural Life Sciences Startup Competition funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation and presented by XTC at TechBBQ, the center of the startup and innovation ecosystem in Scandinavia. TechBBQ 2023 is a large-scale summit drawing 7,500+ attendees from around the world to Copenhagen, Denmark on September 13-14, 2023.
Inspired by the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), XTC, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit public benefit corporation with hundreds of global partners, is the largest ecosystem and competition for purpose-driven technology. Since 2015, XTC finalists have raised $3.5B thanks to the support from leading corporations, venture capital investors, foundations, policymakers, universities, startup ecosystem builders, and tech conferences.
“Extreme Tech Challenge is partnering with TechBBQ to break barriers and expand the horizons of life science startups by connecting them with a global community of like-minded entrepreneurs, investors, and experts,” said Victoria Slivkoff, Executive Managing Director of Extreme Tech Challenge and Head of Ecosystem at Walden Catalyst Ventures. “The main objective of the startup competition is to enhance the visibility of local startups within their community and beyond, as well as to facilitate knowledge sharing through keynotes, workshops, and networking opportunities. By leveraging the Extreme Tech Challenge’s global ecosystem to promote their innovative ideas and cutting-edge research to a global audience, these startups can access new markets, forge valuable partnerships, and attract the necessary investment to scale up and achieve success.”
Applications for the pitch competition will open on May 15, 2023, and life sciences startups based in Denmark and the Nordics are welcomed to APPLY. The application deadline is June 18, 2023. Startups selected to advance to the finals will be announced in mid-July and the finals pitch will be live, on stage at TechBBQ on September 13th, followed by a second day of Summit programming on Sept 14, 2023, in Copenhagen.
Exposure on such an influential global stage will give the Top 8 Finalists access to over 100 corporate executives, VCs and more attending TechBBQ alongside the potential for investment and corporate strategic partnership.

The final pitches will be judged live by Nicolas Autret, Partner at Walden Catalyst Ventures, as well as top industry leaders to be announced based on the following equally-weighted evaluation criteria:
