In recent weeks, the Extreme Tech Challenge has hosted regional competitions in Brazil, India, and France. At each event, senior investors selected incredible startups that are driving positive change through innovative technologies to become XTC 2021 Finalists.
XTC Brazil took place at the SILICON VALLEY WEB CONFERENCE by STARTSE, one of the largest LATAM technology events ever held. The XTC Brazil judges, made up of Antoine Colaço of Valor Capital, Monica Saggioro of Maya Capital, Pat Burtis of Amadeus Capital, Chris Chu of Samsung Catalyst Fund, and Carlos Kokron of Qualcomm Ventures, selected the following Winners.
VITALK (HEALTH): AI-powered chatbots for mental health and primary care.
SOLUBIO (AGTECH): Enabling farmers to eliminate the usage of chemical pesticides.
METRON (CLEANTECH): Providing Energy Transparent Factories, where energy usage is monitored, analyzed, and optimized in real-time through AI.
India’s most influential startup conference, TECHSPARKS by Yourstory, hosted XTC India. The XTC India evaluation committee, made up of Dede Goldschmidt of the Samsung Catalyst Fund, Ankit Pal from NXP, and Madhurima Agarwal from NetApp, with the support of the YourStory team, reviewed over 2,000 applicants. The selected winners are:
COGNIABLE (HEALTH): Cogniable uses machine-learning for the early detection and affordable treatment of Autism, Dyslexia, and ADHD.
PIXXEL (ENABLING TECH): Pixxel uses nano-satellites to capture high-res, real-time data for climate monitoring, crop yield prediction, urban planning, and disaster response.
SUNFOX (HEALTH): Sunfox creates a small ECG machine that is paired with a smartphone app and can be used anytime, anywhere by anyone at 5% of the cost of standard solutions.
Additionally, XTC 2020 FINALISTS from India including Saathi, Navana, FreshoKartz, and Elucidata spoke at TechSparks on “How to Build Startups that Change the World.”
XTC partnered with BFM Business and France Digitale on their Tech for Good Awards. Each Tech for Good Award winner was simultaneously selected as an XTC Finalist. The finalists include:
ECOVADIS (CLEANTECH): Trusted provider of business sustainability ratings, creating a global network of more than 65,000 rated companies.
GEEV (SMART CITIES AND TRANSPORTATION): Mobile app that lets you donate or find free stuff or food posted by other people near you.
ECOTREE (CLEANTECH): Promotes environmental awareness and engages individuals and businesses in eco-friendly behavior by offering simple, concrete, and financially viable solutions.
PHOENIX MOBILITY (SMART CITIES AND TRANSPORTATION): Promotes environmental awareness and engages individuals and businesses in eco-friendly behavior by offering simple, concrete, and financially viable solutions.
WANDERCRAFT (ENABLING TECH): Realistic and autonomous walking exoskeletons.
