Highlighting a new avenue for entrepreneurs to join the Extreme Tech Challenge (XTC), representatives hit the road in Asia, stopping in Singapore, Jakarta, and Bangalore to invite startups to join the #XTC2020 challenge through regional competitions.
#XTC2020 is a global competition designed to equip a new generation of innovators with the resources, expertise, and support to address the world’s biggest problems, as encapsulated in the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals.
Benefits of the XTC competition include:
- Global Visibility. Pitch your startup to thousands of tech leaders and investors at regional competitions
- Raise Capital. Access leading investors who could help you launch or grow your startup.
- World-Class Mentorship. Work with industry leaders and experts who can help guide your startup to success
- Connections. Engage with leaders from global corporations and venture capital companies
Promising entrepreneurs—those with solid business ideas that also have the potential to help make the world a better place—can be anywhere. So #XTC2020 is establishing regional competitions around the world to expose more innovators to the benefits of the #XTC2020 competition and to offer a select few startups a fast track to the #XTC2020 global finals.
To expand the global footprint for both the global and regional competitions, the #XTC2020 roadshow made the following stops:
Singapore. XTC representatives, led by Barrett Parkman of XTC founding partner Samsung, met with leading venture capitalists and startup accelerators to help strengthen ties with the robust startup ecosystem in Singapore.
Jakarta, Indonesia. #XTC2020 attended the giant Tech in Asia Conference October 8th and 9th. This year, Jakarta was the site of a newly consolidated Tech in Asia Conference, where more than 6,000 international stakeholders from the tech and startup ecosystem gathered.
In addition, #XTC2020 announced a regional XTC Jakarta competition with its partner Kejora, a top accelerator and VC fund in Indonesia. Three startups competing in this regional #XTC2020 competition will receive an invitation to the #XTC2020 global finals at XTC Global Finals in 2020.
The deadline to apply for the XTC Jakarta competition is November 6th. The top three startups, which will receive invitations to the XTC Global Finals, will be announced November 29th. Startups can apply here for the XTC Jakarta competition.
Bengaluru (aka Bangalore), India. YourStory’s TechSparks held its 10th annual conference on October 11th and 12th. TechSparks has become a benchmark platform where startups, emerging business leaders, policy makers, investors, and innovators converge to build and shape the technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship narrative in India. Barrett Parkman will speak at the event.
As part of the TechSparks conference, the Tech 30 showcase celebrates 30 startups selected and supported each year by YourStory. This year, the Tech 30 showcase will also be acting as a regional #XTC2020 competition, with one top startup receiving an invitation to the XTC global finals.
Three startups were chosen at TechSparks from more than 3,000 applications as regional winners, receiving invitations to the #XTC2020 global finals in 2020: Elucidata, a New Delhi health startup improving drug discovery through data science and machine learning; Fresho Kartz, an agtech startup in Jaipur that helps farmers increase their yields and incomes; and Navana, a Bangalore company designing enabling technologies including a contextual voice assistant and voice-based chat interface for Indian vernacular languages.
